Breastfeeding 8 year old child

1 years old should be the cut off age! and that alone is too old!!!!!!! I'm so glad the government doesn't think like this and regulate stuff such as when it's too old to breastfeed! I can understand someone not being comfortable with it/finding it gross personally, but to say when others should stop is ridiculous. Not everyone's milk tastes gross. Also, not everyone's taste buds are the same. I personally haven't tasted it but I hang out on the debate board alot and many women say their breastmilk is sweet and warm. I know I'm jumping in kind of late on this discussion. I just wanted to add that I have a problem with this video mostly because it exists. It's like having your parents post all your embarassing baby pictures online for the world to see. I plan to breastfeed (2 years is my personal limit) and I am open-minded. I don't criticize this mom for breastfeeding, but I would have to wonder at her reasons. I knew a woman who BF her youngest past 5 years old and the problem I had with that was the boundary issue. She would walk up to mom and start lifting up her shirt. That is NOT ok. I can understand night feeding, but during the day, in front of others, NOPE. I don't have a problem with discreet public feeding of infants and toddlers, but a 5 year old doesn't need to feed publicly, or much at all throughout the day. There has to be limits set. BTW this woman and both her daughters were severely overweight, so it definitely did not give weight or health benefits to either. There are definitely issues besides BF age at play here. Concerning babies with teeth: Just wanted to put this in for anyone planning on breastfeeding- one of mine WAS born with teeth and they all got teeth very early. I was still able to breastfeed sucessfully, so teeth aren't the end of the world if you get a baby with early choppers. a lactation expert or LaLeche League can help with any biting or latching on problems. Also just because they got 'em doesn't mean they're ready for a full solids diet. Can you imagine feeding my newborn steak and potatoes? You still have to follow the usual schedule for introducing solids because even with the teeth, their digestive system, immune system, etc aren't ready. Also concerning toddlers/older and those concerned about health benefits--if they're old enough for a sippy cup, breastmilk can go in a sippy cup. this is what a lot of working moms do at some point vs. bottled breastmilk. Pumping *is* a pain. But if you're uncomfortable with breastfeeding at an older age and still want your child to have the health benefits, I think Fake Buy Cheap U-Boat U-42 Watch its better than not at all. I like "full-term breastfeeding" too. I'll have to remember that :) Okay I tried to stay away BUT, for those who think this is normal, and we should just let our kids decide what they want to do and when they want to do it are obviously grossing underprepared for the job of a parent. Yes I said it, and it's true! Wishingfortwins maybe you should spend less time finding the definition of narrowminded and time looking up Jean Piaget's theories of cognitive development, Erikson's stage's of development, and Vygosky's theory of social development, to name a few. My 2 year old would eat junk food and stay up until 11:00 at night if I her. I let her do that because she wants to? Or because she used to stay up to 11 when she was an infant? NO! Kids don't get to decided what is best for them, and breastfeeding a 5 or 6 or 7 yo is absurd, (living in a 3rd world country notwithstanding) Okay I tried to stay away BUT, for those who think this is normal, and we should just let our kids decide what they want to do and when they want to do it are obviously grossing underprepared for the job of a parent. Yes I said it, and it's true! Wow. just wow. Don't know if this top bit is specific to me or not, but I definitely never said "we shoud just let our kids decide what they want to do and when they want to do it." If I'm grossly underprepared, so be it. My ancestors were too, apparently. Wishingfortwins maybe you should spend less time finding the definition of narrowminded and time looking up Jean Piaget's theories of cognitive development, Erikson's stage's of development, and Vygosky's theory or social development, to name a few. I already went through those in my many Psych classes, thank you very much. Not all children develop mentally/physically/emotionally at the same rates.
